Background 

Residency generation topics will be a combination of traditional design and programming algorithms to explore the generation of design algorithms to achieve the mechanism. Traditional architects use their experience and perceptual design, while computers can only operate rationally. Therefore, it is necessary to transform the design process of settlements into a process that can be described by numbers, select appropriate algorithms to simulate the architect's design process, set different parameters to meet the architect's aesthetic requirements and different provisions of different venues, and use Computer powerful storage capabilities and high-speed computing power, through the optimization process to find the best solution.

Generative Process

Select the site

Generate Road Network

The formation of ice cracks in the pattern of a division of land, if the land area is too large will be the second division, the formation of two levels of the road network.

       Process of optimization:                                                                              

  • Give each small parcel edge tension to ensure proper aspect ratio;

  • There are repulsive forces between adjacent blocks, leaving the road;

  • According to the area of the land, shrink and expand on its own;

  • Eventually reach a relatively stable state.

Cluster Formation

The road network within the block is unblocked, and public activities and landscaping are built into the living environment.

Classify secondary roads into small plots and generate building contours to ensure the integrity of the façade along the street

Simplify irregular bubbles to polygons and maintain the original topology.
Through the combination of random movement and judgment, the existing combination is optimized to get the optimal solution..

Growth & Optimization

Growth: set the volume rate and put into commercial function
Optimization: lighting (shelter, building orientation), roads, overhangs, the number of platforms
